Changelly provides fast exchanges between Bitcoin, Monero, fiat, and 1000+ altcoins. The service may require identity verification during AML/risk checks and currently scores poorly on privacy and trust.

Key points:
KYC & risk behavior:
  • “Shotgun KYC”: Automated AML flags can freeze transactions and trigger a Customer Identification Procedure requiring ID, a selfie, and source-of-funds (SumSub) verification.
  • The service may request KYC, SoF, or other identity checks at any time, including before refunding flagged deposits.
  • Deposits are scanned against blacklists; flagged transactions may be frozen, seized, or require extended verification.
  • The provider can suspend or terminate access at its discretion. Personal/account data may be shared with authorities or third parties for compliance.
Operational concerns:
  • Users report slow processing times and difficult refund/resolution paths.
  • Evidence of abnormal operation or exit-scam indicators should be treated as a serious warning.
Avoid using Changelly for privacy-sensitive transactions or large amounts; if you must use it, test with small amounts and be prepared to complete KYC and provide source-of-funds documentation.

Changelly, at any time, require identity verification and/or KYC procedures, or ask for Source of Funds (SOF) details, if it’s required by law or if its internal compliance policies call for it.

It also runs internal checks designed to detect suspicious behavior. If a transaction is marked as suspicious, the platform may freeze or seize funds. In some cases, users can regain access by completing additional requirements such as providing SOF information and/or completing KYC.

Additionally, if Changelly AML monitoring flags a deposit, it may require the user to verify their identity before releasing the funds back to them. Avoid using it.
